That satellite launched on november 3th 1957 carried the bitch Laîka in space , Then URSS could study the effect of the orbital flight on a living body. All the informations were transmit by radio to the Earth.
The pressurised cabin where staied the animal were glued to the last staire of the rocket. Spoutnik 2 fired in the atmosphere on April 14th 1958. Laîka was dead a long time before the end of oxygene stock. No rescue system was programmed to this effect.
